Let's not let them get away with it! Who are they? They are the right wing hate machine, the TV, newspaper and radio commentators; the religious bigots, the chicken-hawks, the politicians who spew the insanely stupid, the hateful, the bigoted and racist comments that their listeners and readers lap up. We're not after those who listen and believe the bile that flows from these people. We're after the majority of Americans who either don't listen or tune out the smears, hatred and bigotry. Let's show the majority of Americans just how awful the right wing smear machine is. And let's show it to them in their own words.
I've compiled a short list of some of the most hateful, stupid and offensive comments from our favorite right wing morons, Bill Bennett, Michael Savage, BillO, Rushbo, Ann Coulter, etc., have said. My idea is to start a thread that other Kossacks will continue with their "favorite" comments from the right.
So, let's have at it.
Bill Bennett - former Secretary of Education and Pres Bushs' (41) 'drug czar':
"You could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."
Glenn Beck - syndicated talk show host
"You know it took me about a year to start hating the 9-11 victims' families? Took me about a year."
"And that's all we're hearing about, are the people in New Orleans. Those are the only ones we're seeing on television are the scumbags."
Jerry Falwell - Minister, found of the "Moral Majority"
Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them."
Thayer Verschoor - Republican majority leader of the Arizona State Senate, intoduced a bill that would "discipline, fine or fire educators for speaking about elections, legislation, judicial action or 'a social, political or culture issue that is a matter of partisan controversy,'
Ann Coulter - commentator
"If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president."
Speaking about Darfur, "Who's running this holocaust in Darfur, FEMA?
"This is truly a war in which we have absolutely no interest."
Neal Boortz - radio host, commentator, author
"When these Katrina so-called refugees were scattered about the country, it was just a glorified episode of putting out the garbage." Boortz also described New Orleans as "a city of parasites, a city of people who could not and had no desire to fend for themselves."
Bill Kristol - publisher, author
"Well, first of all, whenever I hear anything described as a heartless assault on our children, I tend be - think - it's a good idea. I'm happy that the President is willing to do something bad for the kids." (Speaking about President Bush's veto of S-CHIP).
Michael Savage - commentator, author
"By and large, 90 percent of the people on the Nobel Committee are into child pornography and molestation, according to the latest scientific studies."
"...liberalism is a mental disorder, and I don’t have the cure for it."
Rush Limbaugh - radio host
On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the WH cat, and asked, "Did you know there’s a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time...
If this Virginia Tech shooter had an ideology, what do you think it was? This guy had to be a liberal. You start railing against the rich and all this other --- this guy’s a liberal. He was turned into a liberal somewhere along the line. So it’s a liberal that committed this act.
Bill O’Reilly - TV host, author
"And I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship. "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.'"
Tom DeLay - former US Representative
"I contend (abortion) affects you in immigration," DeLay told a Washington-area gathering. "If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn't need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. Think about it."
Pat Robertson - televangelist
God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would cause a 'mass killing' late in 2007"..."I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," Pat said on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."
Erick Erickson - editor of the popular conservative blog RedState
conceded that progressives currently enjoy an advantage over conservatives online — though he attributed it to an asymmetry in free time, since conservatives "have families because we don’t abort our kids, and we have jobs because we believe in capitalism."
John McCain - Navy veteran, Senator, Presidential candidate
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." (Note: Chelsea was 12 at the time). McCain later apologized.
How many more comments can we add to this small list? Have at it, and have fun.
